OUR VISION

At the Company of Dramatic Arts (CODA), we envision a world where theatre transcends the ordinary and becomes a space for growth, connection, and transformation. Nestled in the heart of Sydney’s Inner-West, our company is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community where stories come alive, emotions resonate deeply, and creativity knows no bounds. Our stage is not just a place for performance; it’s where individuals discover their artistic voice, explore their identities, and forge lasting bonds through shared experiences.

Driven by the lifelong passion of our founder, Kris Sergi, and inspired by the rich history of storytelling on this unceded land, CODA is more than just a theatre company. We are a celebration of diverse narratives, a platform for emerging talent, and a hub for artistic collaboration. We recognise the transformative power of theatre not only to entertain but to inspire personal growth, cultivate empathy, and foster a sense of belonging. Through our carefully curated productions and educational programs, we invite performers and audiences alike to engage with theatre in a way that transcends the stage.

Our commitment extends beyond the spotlight. We aim to provide a nurturing environment where teens and adults can learn, grow, and develop their craft under the guidance of industry experts. We believe that theatre is a journey—one that empowers individuals to unlock their potential, build confidence, and connect deeply with themselves and others.

At CODA, we also acknowledge the deep cultural significance of the land we perform on. For thousands of years, these lands have been a stage for stories that connect people and communities. We honor the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional custodians of this land and recognize their ongoing contributions to the cultural landscape. Through our work, we commit to fostering an environment that celebrates and respects the diverse histories and perspectives that shape our society.

As we look toward the future, our vision is to continue shaping the performing arts scene in Sydney by creating theatre that not only entertains but leaves a lasting impact. Whether it’s through bold new productions, nurturing future talent, or fostering connections within our community, CODA is dedicated to telling stories that matter, cultivating creativity, and building a vibrant, inclusive artistic legacy.

JESSICA G

Legally Blonde, 2024

Kris is one of the most thoughtful, encouraging, determined, and talented people i have ever met. She was incredible to work with in Legally Blonde, and being on stage to bring her directive vision to life was an amazing experience. Not only does she work tirelessly to make sure everything is perfect, she connects with everyone and fosters a creative, loving, and fun environment. I would absolutely recommend anyone to join or support her future productions and projects, and I intend to seize any opportunity I can to be a part of these productions in the future.

We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional custodians of the land on which we gather, create, and perform. This land, never ceded, has been a stage for stories that connect communities for thousands of years. At CODA, we honour this deep cultural significance and stand in solidarity with the truth of this land’s history. We are committed to fostering an environment that respects and celebrates the diverse histories and perspectives that shape our society.
